Skittles are now Halal! (gelatin-free)
Growing up in America, there are a few candies that I could not eat due to them containing gelatin, which in most cases is derived from pork sources. Skittles and Starbursts are among those candies. Well the other day I was at Costco. Just randomly, I decided to check the ingredients of the Skittles box. I was hoping that by some miracle, they changed their gelatin to “kosher gelatin”. To my amazement, the skittles package said “gelatin-free’. They actually stopped using gelatin all together! I attached a picture of the wrapper so you can see for yourself.
Now us Muslims, vegetarians, vegans can enjoy one more simple pleasure in life: skittles! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that one day Starburst and Lucky Charms (the cereal) will become halal also. ![]()
(Note, that not ALL stores carry these skittles w/out gelatin, so make sure to still read the package before eating!)
